Questions about the AEP Bankcroft-Milton Proposed Project
Is it just a segment of something similar to WV PATH from 2010?
Last night, we attended our community’s open house where AEP gave us the runaround and did not answer directly any of my questions:
How can they not tell us the actual numbers for— increased voltage, increased EMF, increased electric bills— and still implement this in our area?
I wish the news had showed pictures of the giant substation that will be one block away from our school. It will “hum” , require rights-of-way for many AEP vehicles, lower property values, and bring an amount of EMF which the AEP will not disclose to us.
We actually just went to the meeting to save the trails. Meeks Mountain Trails are our beautiful woods, the work of many years and many hands in this area. Bike races, running, mountain bike clubs, scouts, local businesses, hiking clubs, countless people love this property because of its beauty and proximity to where we live. You can hike for hours. Our local kids have tons of biking stories about this place. They are up here every single day.
But AEP already quietly bought this property along Teays Valley Road, just in front of Meeks Mountain Trail, for their new large substation. So they seem quite committed to their plan.

I have been reading about PATH from about 12 years ago. It was an AEP project that was stopped because of many many people who didn’t want eminent domain on their property in order to serve the goals of corporate growth.
This page has explained a lot:

Is this Teays Valley project just another part of something to transmit more power from our area on to VA and north? Is it like a PATH 2.0? How would we find out if it was?
What is truly the role of PJM and how does this project relate to what is happening nationally with power investments to benefit global corporations?
Ultimately, I think we are in a struggle against growth.
Did our county leaders and county commission already agree to do this, because ultimately if they’ve already made the deals for “growth” (we have 350 new apartments coming, road widening in Scott depot w/ eminent domain, more apartments and untold companies coming….) then residents better start becoming informed about what we are in for.
If residents here had to trade community for “growth", I think they would choose community. But I don’t know if we’ve already been sold out.
